Application of aluminum hydroxide in modified thermoplastics industry

1. Application of unsaturated polyester

In fiberglass reinforced unsaturated polyester cast plastics (such as various high or low voltage electrical switches), aluminum hydroxide is used as a filler to make the plastics flame retardant, smoke canceling and arc resistant.Aluminum hydroxide is also used for glass fiber reinforced plastic laminate, such as glass fiber reinforced plastic tile, pipe, storage tank, etc., has a good flame retardant effect.

2. Application of epoxy resin

In the epoxy resin, the aluminum hydroxide has the special flame retardant effect, the dosage is 40%~60%, the oxygen index is twice higher than the unfilled epoxy resin, at the same time?Enhanced arc resistance and arc trace resistance.The epoxy resin filled with aluminum hydroxide has a bright future in the production of transformers, insulation equipment, switching devices and so on.

4. Application of latex and adhesives

Latex rubber and carboxylate latex adhesives for carpet linings were the first markets for aluminum hydroxide, and their consumption is still leading.It is also used in precoatings, adhesives and foams as a substitute for calcium carbonate and clay, which have low flame retardancy.Generally, 100 parts of latex and 20~150 parts of aluminum hydroxide with particle size of 3~20 m are added, while 75~250 parts are added in the binder.It is estimated that latex precipitation is still the largest consumer of aluminum hydroxide in the future.

5. Application of polyvinyl chloride

Aluminum hydroxide in the thermoplasticity of the most studied field is polyvinyl chloride.Instead of calcium carbonate filler, aluminum hydroxide can be easily incorporated into plasticized PVC.There are two ways to achieve high standards of flame retardation: one is a combination of aluminum hydroxide and phosphorus carboxyester plasticizer, and the other is a combination of aluminum hydroxide and zinc borate, which has been used in PVC wire and cable materials.Adding aluminum hydroxide to hard polyvinyl chloride is mainly for smoke elimination.

6, polyethylene, polystyrene, ABS and other thermoplastic applications

Aluminum hydroxide has been used in flame retardant decorative calcium plastic board and achieved good results.But in these thermoplastics, the addition of aluminum hydroxide when used alone must be more than 60% to show a certain degree of flame retardant, and at this time the plastic impact strength will be seriously affected.So up to now, the application of aluminum hydroxide in these thermoplastics is still a subject of continuing research.

7. Application of synthetic rubber

In styrene butadiene rubber, neoprene this kind of synthetic rubber in the aluminum hydroxide to make a good flame retardant, such as flame retardant cable sheath formula: neoprene, 100, 70 clay, calcium carbonate, 30, 100 aluminum hydroxide, zinc borate 15, antimony trioxide 10 copies of zno five copies, magnesium oxide 4 copies of different melamine urea acid ester five copies, Na – 220.5 servings, stearic acid, 2 copies.The oxygen index of the product is up to 50.
